WunderWerkz Software announces the release of FreeShare Server 1.0.2. (Only the 1.0.2 version of the client was released several days ago). This new version of the FreeShare Server continues with our efforts to make the FreeShare Suite user-friendly, and extremely configurable for the server Admin who likes to add his or her personal touch to the server. This new release features:

1. Created a new "Messages" tab in the "FreeShare Server Options" window, and moved the four Admin-definable messages, (incorrect login, chat before download, post before download, refused pm/private chat), from the "Misc" tab to the new "Messages" tab.

2. The allotted length of these four messages has been doubled from 127 characters to 255 characters so Admins can be more expressive.

3. The size of the text fields to enter these Admin-definable messages has been tripled, making it much easier for the Admin to enter data.

4. The allotted length of the login message has also been augmented from 127 characters to 255 characters.

5. The size of the login message text field has been adjusted accordingly to make it easier to enter the login message text.

6. The login message delivery options have been re-arranged on the "Login Msg" tab, formerly known as the "Login Message" tab.

7. Made some textual changes on the "Trackers" tab and realigned the elements contained in the window.

8. More space was placed between the "Cancel" and "Save" buttons located on the "FreeShare Server Options" window, to help avoid hitting the wrong button, and possibly losing one's work.

9. Other minor internal code enhancements.

FreeShare Client and Server 1.0.4 has been released.

Changes in FreeShare Client since v1.0.2:

* Fourteen new User Icons, bringing the total to 63 new User Icons since our first release.

* Modified "pre-text" in Server Agreement window.

* Introduced new icon in Server Agreement window and in other alert windows.


Changes in FreeShare Server since v1.0.2:

* The "banned user name" message which is sent to the user is now Admin-definable. The allotted length of this string has been doubled from 127 characters to 255 characters. Look for it on the "Misc" tab.

* The allotted length of the server description string has been doubled from 127 characters to 255 characters.

* Options Window/General Tab - readjusted position of pane elements, and added a port hint for new FreeShare server Admins.

* Options Window/Info Tab - readjusted position of pane elements, and made modifications to text.

* Options Window/Banner Tab - readjusted position of pane elements, and made modifications to text.

* Options Window/Misc Tab - readjusted position of pane elements, and made modifications to text.

* Options Window/Login Msg Tab - readjusted position of pane elements, and made modifications to text.

* Many internal server-to-client error strings modified.

Please be advised that version 1.0.5 of the FreeShare Client And Server Suite has been released. Following is a list of changes since version 1.0.4:

1. New "User Status" icons introduced to server and client.

2. Modified some client-to-user error strings.

3. Fixed bug accidentally introduced whereby splashscreen was still showing, even though user had it disabled in their prefs.

4. Added new "User Options" button to FreeShare Client Toolbar.

5. Updated FreeShare screenshots.

6. Updated FreeShare Read Me PDF.

7. Updated FreeShare Quick Start Guide PDF.

FreeShare is a renamed Gloarbline!?

The FreeShare Client and Server Software Suite is not just simply a renamed version of Gloarbline. This is a distortion of the truth which is purposely being promoted by Gloarb for whatever his reasons. If FreeShare is just a renamed version of Gloarbline, then Gloarbline is likewise just a renamed version of Hotline and Openline, because most of the code contained in Gloarbline is NOT original code written by Gloarb.

The fact is, in the same fashion that Gloarb has been enhancing the original Openline source code, WunderWerkz Software has taken the Openline source code, and an earlier version of the Gloarbline source code, and continues to enhance and improve it on the Macintosh side. This is clearly stated in the "FreeShare A Brief History" PDF file, which is included with each download. In short, both FreeShare and Gloarbline are based upon the Openline source code, but the current developers are each taking their products in somewhat different directions now.

For the last several months, WunderWerkz Software has worked independently, and does not even possess the latest source code for Gloarbline. As such, any improvements and enhancements which have been added to the FreeShare suite during this time, are original. Of course, FreeShare and Gloarbline will contain some similar, or even identical features, due to the very nature of the software.

A "Version History" PDF file is included with each release of the FreeShare suite. Any questions regarding any changes which have been made to the software during this time, can easily be answered by reading the version history file.

Next to reading the version history file, the best way to know how FreeShare and Gloarbline are different, is simply by downloading the Macintosh version of each, and comparing their overall feature set and GUI. Use whichever one you feel most comfortable with. We believe that Macintosh users may find FreeShare to be more Mac-like, and more user-friendly, besides having a nicer GUI. But again, you decide.
