The GLoarbLine Team speaks:

This is just a reminder that the Openline-based GLoarbLine client and server continue to be actively developed for both the Macintosh and Windows platforms, by Gloarb!! and the GLoarbLine team.

The GLoarbLine client/server suite enjoys a unique feature set which you will not find in the older Hotline, Openline and Underline software. For example, as of this date.....

1. The user can be forced to either post in the public chat window, or else in the news, before being able to download. This is a great way to stop annoying download bots, such as Pitbull users, etc.
2. The GLoarbLine server can ban by both IP address, as well as by specific user names.
3. The GLoarbLine server has 10 tracker registration slots, as opposed to the original five in the old Hotline server.
4. The GLoarbLine server admin can enable or disable kicks/bans by the admin from being announced in the public chat window.
5. The GLoarbLine server has an admin-editable, global login message. This message can be posted in the user's public chat window, sent as a private message to the user with both "Reply" and "Dismiss" buttons, sent as a private message to the user with just a "Dismiss" button, or sent to the user as a "Broadcast" message.
6. The "temporary ban delay", (how long a user is temporarily banned), is admin-definable.
7. The "away delay", (how long before the user is grayed out), is admin-definable.
8. The "incorrect login message" is admin-definable.
9. The "chat before downloading" message to the user is admin-definable.
10. The "post in news before downloading" message to the user is admin-definable.

These are some of the features which make GLoarbLine a positive addition to the Hotline protocol-based family of clients and servers, and more great features are on the way.
As of yesterday, the Macintosh GLoarbLine client also features a new splashscreen which is viewable upon launching the application, as well as by clicking on the toobar's "Info" button, or by clicking on the "About GLoarbLine" menu option. More GUI enhancements may be coming in the future as our time permits.

The latest public release of the Windows version of the GLoarbLine client and server can be downloaded from:
http://www.lorbac.net

While the Macintosh versions are also eventually made available at the lorbac.net website, if you want the very latest Macintosh version, before it appears on the lorbac.net site, you can find it on the "Armageddon" Hotline server at static IP address: 121.55.192.27, or endtimeprophecy.org.
Once you log onto the "Armageddon" server, go here:
--> Mac - More Useful Files/BBS - Intranet - Internet/ Peer-To-Peer Suites/Hotline/GLoarbLine Software

The Macintosh versions of both the GLoarbLine client and server found on the "Armageddon" server have a date in the filename, so that you will always be able to know whether or not you have the latest Macintosh release.

I forgot to mention that we have been experiencing some problems with importing the CodeWarrior project files into Xcode. As a result, to date, we have not been able to compile an Intel-only, or Universal Binary version of the GLoarbLine client or server for the Macintosh. There are currently only Mac Classic and Mac Carbon versions of both the GLoarbLine client and server. However, please note that the Carbon version of both run perfectly fine on our G4's running Tiger 10.4.9 PPC. They have been extremely stable.

If anyone would like to see the current graphical status of the Macintosh version of the GLoarbLine client and server, please go to the following URL to see a desktop view of our Armageddon FREE Files server. The desktop snapshot shows most of the windows in GLoarbLine:

http://www.endtimeprophecy.org:7777

or else . . .

When you get to the webpage, click on the image in the top right corner to enlarge it and see more details. You can scroll around to see the full image. The image may change if you refresh the webpage, such as if someone has logged on since the last snapshot was taken.

» why link?
By Rbbr Chckn @ Sunday, 08 of Apr, 2007 - 02:23

why is this linked in any way to a religious psycho cult site like:

"Armageddon" Hotline server at static IP address: 121.55.192.27, or endtimeprophecy.org.

These are the worst of the religious cults and the only reason I am not using this product. To be linked with at least a remotely reasonable religious site is one thing, but endtimeprophecy.org is warped & in need of professional help. Do not encourage them with this sort of promotion, instruct them on how to get the professional help they need. The depth of their religious fanaticism is truly diseased.

By MacBoy66 @ Tuesday, 10 of Apr, 2007 - 04:40

We appologize at GLoarbLine for the references to religion. It wasn't part of our original programming, however WordWeaver tried to take control of it, and solicitate his material. Since then, we have removed his influence and strive to bring you a great product.

Hmmm...I see there's been some rather interesting, albeit unusual, comments on VivaHx lately.

For what it's worth, with a name like "Rubbr Chckn", one must truly wonder who really needs professional help. :)

A "religious psycho cult", Mr. Chckn? The general understanding is that a cult consists of a demented, dominating leader who desires to be worshipped, and a group of blind followers who will do anything to obey and appease the leader. From what I know about the WordWeaver and his work, he is not the leader of anybody or anything. He works completely alone; not even with any church or anything. He is just a dedicated Christian doing what all dedicated Christians are supposed to do. What is so fanatical about actively preaching the Gospel? Isn't that what Christ in fact ordered His followers to do? I personally see nothing wrong with that. In fact, I admire anyone who does it. It's not an easy job. You take all kinds of crap, like from people like Rubbr Chckn. :)

The issue with GLoarbLine is another story. I know for a fact that WordWeaver didn't try to take over anything, but that he did freely dedicate a lot of time and effort to trying to make the software even better, which he did, particularly in a graphical sense.

It is very misleading to say that you, ahem, "removed his influence". The fact is, WordWeaver stopped supporting the product, and made the decision to branch out on his own, due to the fact that the lead programmer is apparently on some kind of a big ego trip, and doesn't want anyone touching or changing the code, even though it, (meaning Openline and GLoarbLine), are BOTH open source. The simple fact that a programmer would name a software after himself certainly shows that he has some ego problems. :)

WordWeaver had a lot of good ideas. It is sad that after he left the little GLoarbLine team, they continued to use the nice splashscreen he made, but removed his name from the credits on the splashscreen. How unethical is that? Maybe it was the complaint on VersionTracker that finally got them to make their own splashscreen...which is kind of crappy looking. :)

Not only that, but the WordWeaver wrote the product blurb that is still on the GLoarbLine site in the news area, and on a number of other software download sites as well. But again, GLoarb removed WW's name as the author of the news item, and put "administrator". Again, it seems that the GLoarbLine team is being unfair, deceptive and dishonest at the same time. They are purposely stealing credit away from WordWeaver.

Quite frankly, I think WordWeaver made the right move when he left them and started working on his own version of the client and server. They're coming along nicely.

That's it. Just my two cents worth...or maybe a quarter's worth! Ha! Now watch the wolves come out and bite me just because I put in a good word for WordWeaver. I don't care. The truth is the truth, plain and simple.

Yes, WW had some good ideas. And we were glad to work with him. The problem we had, however, was when he started adding a Christian Message to our product. We do not feel that religious messages should be apart of our product. We are about making a great Client/Server, not spreading the word. There is nothing wrong with spreading the word, we just didn't want it to be included with our P2P applications. That would be a conflict of interest.

We have been working on improving our splash screen, but have had issues with including it with both Mac and Windows versions. Its a programming issue, and we are working it out.
